Underwhelming.
I actually think I found a way to trick LJ into letting me post again. We shall see, I guess.
In any case, here is another underwhelming picture that won't make any sense and looks like crap in the first place. This is the top of two panels of the screen. For those with absolutely no imagination, these are trees. However, since the overlay of "fog" hasn't been applied yet, nor have the birds made an appearance (they aren't really in this section much) it just looks like a bunch of...I have no idea. However, I'm only posting this to prove that I actually AM working. Might have gone oh-for-two today, or maybe better. Not really too certain.
For reference, this represents about 6 hours of work. Yeah, I'm really slow at stuff like this, but then I never claimed to be able to paint worth squat anyway.
Yes, you're looking at a combination of several different methodologies...some air-brush, some Sumi-E, some non-traditional watercolor work. The entire piece is in black and white, so no, you're not going to see any colors other than shades of grey. I might or might not end up with 50. I'm not counting.
When the fog is added over the top of this, most of the detail will be obscured, which is likely a good thing. I guess we'll see about that later. Or not. Should you care (and you shouldn't) the wood is beech. I did a little non-traditional treating of the wood to prevent the water-based inks and paints from soaking in or running too much. No, I can't ell you exactly what I did, or rather I won't. I have few secrets, but that will remain one of them.
