The Frog Earl by Carola Dunn
The last thing Princess Mimi wanted was to kiss a bailiff, but Simon was no ordinary bailiff. Bitter from his experiences in the London marriage mart, Simon left his title behind and sought rural calm in learning the art of managing a large estate from his aunt's overseer. Instead, his peace was shattered when he bargained kisses for the rescue of a beautiful princess's bracelet.

I originally picked this up at the library because I like Ms. Dunn Daisy Dalrymple mysteries. It looked like a light fluffy book to read and I was right. It’s a retelling of the Frog Prince Fairytale - one that I enjoyed much better than the original fairytale. The princess in the original story was a spoiled brat, but Princess Mimi is smart and daring. She is willing to do anything for her best friend even at the expense of herself. She has a wonderful father who wants what is best for her...well within reason. I also like the description of her Indian past - even though I personally would not want to live there during that time period! She is a wonderful heroine!!
I even like the hero. He has a horrid immediate family - which is why he ran off to the navy. He is insecure and uncomfortable in his new status. He is however, much more open-minded then the other suitors and he likes Mimi for her differences. They both want to be loved for themselves and not their money. They just go about it two different ways!
