I'm not sure why I'd never gone to the St. Patrick's Day parade before yesterday. Maybe it's because I was born in the suburbs, so South Boston seems like a whole other country. But everything about it appeals to me except for the not-allowing-gays thing. The parade mainly consists of firemen, drunk people, and men in kilts. (Plus some drunk fireman wearing kilts.) And Southie seemed like the funnest place on earth! Every house appeared to be having a party. Despite this, I found the parade extremely slow-moving and boring. Plus, it was frigid, so after a while, we walked along with the Dropkick Murphys float and jumped up and down to Irish punk to keep warm. When they played "Tessie," my heart was filled with a joy that I had not experienced since October of 2004. Seriously, I had forgotten how amazingly awesome it was when the Red Sox won the World Series. Why does happiness wear off so quickly?
