I love the Obamas so much! Yesterday was awesome! I watched TV for like 12 hours, taking a break only to go to my PowerFlex class and buy new snow boots. I sat on the couch last night and flipped through the channels to watch the coverage of all the balls (hehe). I must have seen the president (yay!) and first lady (yay!) dance the same dance about seven times, but it never got old. Maybe I was losing my mind after watching TV for so long, but I am pretty sure that CSPAN commentators said that they didn't know what song the Obamas were dancing to. Um... even if you are too clueless to recognize "At Last," you should be able to find out what it is. CNN reported that they were goint to dance to "At Last" before they did. Anyway, I just thought that was weird.
One of the coolest things about yesterday was that my parents' neighbor came over to watch the parade for a bit. We were all so nervous when the Obamas got out of the car and started walking! When they got back in, we all breathed huge sighs of relief. Anyway, this neighbor is an 80-year-old black woman. She looks incredible for her age, but she is, in fact, 80. She told us that she remembered having to sit in a separate section of trains with a curtain between the sections for whites and "coloreds." There is still progress to be made, but we've come a long way.
