Midwest and such

Hello everyone
I just got back from Midwest. A lot of really crazy things have been happening in my life lately...

1. So we've all known that Dr. Coggiola is incompetent at his job, but this December I learned just how much so.
Apparently you need an AP score of a 4 on Biology for it to count at SU. I scored a 3 when I took the test about 6 years ago. Anyways, every single advisor and my senior credit check (DONE BY DR. C) failed to realize that I did not meet the criteria.

So I was basically told by the Ed. School that I would have to lose my two Bachelors degrees, lose my assistanship (which would cause me to also lose my health insurance), drop out of graduate school, and take a science credit at some point.

Clearly this upset me a bit - and it was pretty rough going there for about a week. However, I managed to get almost every SU music faculty member I ever had to back me up (including Ethington and Sutter) - however the Ed. school was all "I don't care how many faculty support this, we don't care" and such.

Eventually my dad pretty much threatened to sue the Ed. School (and Coggiola by extension) and they were all, "well we'll take the 3 as half the credit, but you only need 3 credits so I guess that's okay"

2. With that overwith I went to the Midwest conference for the second time. It was definately a different experience than last year. We didn't do any tourist stuff really, but we all went to a lot of awesome concerts and clinics. My roommates were awesome (which I already knew) and so was the 4-star Sheraton that we stayed in. All in all a good trip. We also saw the Chicago Symphony play Symphonie Fantastique, which was beyond awesome - especially the low brass.

So here are some music things I learned/heard at Midwest that you should check out:
1. Composer - Mashima
2. Any clip of Paradise Lost by Eric Whitacre
3. Any recording of Joe Alessi or Philip Smith (of the NY Phil.) who played a duet together that was frickin awesome

I think that'll be it for today.
I finally got home at about 2 am last night because our plane was delayed and we had to drive from the Rochester airport to Syracuse. FUN!

Hope you all have an awesome Christmas/Hanukkah etc. if I don't talk to you before then
