Hello to you in the Deep South! Nope, that pheasant was very real and having a good time hoovering up the grain spilt from the bird-table above.

What you can't see is two cats sitting at a picnic table about 4 ft from the pheasant and not taking a blind bit of notice. The white cat had a really cute face so maybe I should post him sometime. I did get a few cute cat snaps.

As for Nelson, I'll be toasting him with some rum in May (my old friend's birthday), if not sooner. The weird thing was that I had this LARGE framed print in the boot of my car when we packed up to leave Drinkstone Park and our host who kindly carried a suitcase to the car looked at it very oddly (I mean, it's not exactly a travel essential, is it?) - I considered leaving him with a mystery to ponder but felt embarrassed into explaining!

No, I hadn't heard anything about the Historic Ships part of Portsmouth closing. The Mary Rose is due to be re-housed in some new spanking boat-shaped museum on the site in a year or so, isn't it? Can't think that they'd spend £40m on this and then close. Hope not!

Hmm - sometimes my life is a little too "interesting". It wouldn't hurt to spread the points of interest (panic, hysteria, stress, confusion - yeah, interest!) out a little more >_<

Ah, glad you like Eros. He's a sweetie, isn't he? The trick was to get the camera just at the right angle so that his foot was "treading" on the bottom of the main advertizing panel. No photoshop needed for that. Happy Valentine's Day!

Just how big is the print?! You make it sound like you've been given a mural!

I heard the rumour about the museum, but then there was all this stuff about Portsmouth wanting to spend more money on building a new football stadium (right where the Warrior is).
Who knows P:

Did you see that BBC program last week about the Cutty Sark? I never actually got to see it before it burned, so now I'm rather looking forwards to going up when it reopens :]

I have a somewhat silly resentment over Eros... I got lost in Picadilly looking for the Japan Centre, and after about an hour of walking, we just managed to do a complete circle (missing the Japan Centre entirely) and ending up endless at Eros. And it was crawling with tourists... or drunk students... or both. Did you take the photo at night, or was that photoshopped too? :P

Have a nice Valentine's Day too!

The print is the proportion that you see in the little pic in my post. Width-wise, it just fitted at a tilt in my boot so it's about 4ft something, I guess, and has a large white engraved panel underneath telling you what it is and that it was originally painted for the Palace of Westminster. It was too long to fit on the first wall that I tried to hang it on! Pretty much a mural.

I did hear something about the Warrior being moved to get it out of the water (shame as I always park in Gosport and arrive by the Gosport ferry so it's nice to draw up alongside). I assumed that this was on conservation grounds but maybe football is the real reason!

Eros is certainly a magnet for drunks of all types. I too have sat there regretting the previous night's copious whisky and ridiculous red Russian "champagne" and the early start to the next day. Hmm, missing the Japan Centre at that range is quite impressive - if you didn't have the drunkenness as an excuse!

I think I'm acquiring an undeserved reputation for photo abuse! I only PS-ed the hearts: the rest of the photo (including the night) is as it was. If you peek at this post:

you can see the other pics from my London Chinese New Year visit, including more night shots. Sadly I was working during the day, so most of the camera stuff (new camera - burning hole!) was done at night, which was fine for all the lanterns in Chinatown.

Valentine's Day has started well, thank you - let's hope it continues that way ;=)
