I bought this greedy person's bento box in the Tokyu Hands store in shibuya (district of Tokyo) together with the black chopsticks which are craftily textured at the ends to improve the grip. The sake leapt into my rucksack at the airport & isn't, I hasten to add, part of my office lunch!
The red and white furoshiki (traditional wrapping/carrying cloth) was a parting gift from my Japanese friend, Masa. This is the first trip to the office for the bento box and, although the securing band seems very strong, I'm sticking to dry ingredients for the moment!
So, those dry ingredients are (healthy!):
Tier 1 (left): cucumber, carrot, celery, radishes and red-edge lettuce
Tier 2 (right): baby plum tomatoes, olives with small red picks, vineleaves stuffed with rice and pine-nuts
Tier 3 (middle): cashew nuts, two small pieces of baklava (weekend party leftovers!), tangerine and grapes
The pieces of baklava are each sitting in a red silicone cup (really for baking I think - but I have no oven) as I bought these and a few other food toys (including a star shaped onigiri press! Every household should have one) before leaving the packed-lunch heaven of Japan.
