emo emo emo

Today is sucky and full of stupid tears and I'm feeling emo. So I'm going to lock myself in my room and read my new copy of Good Omens, which I've been meaning to read for a while and finally picked up today. While I was at the bookstore, I also started reading Joan Didion's The Year of Magical Thinking, and, man, I love her prose.

Hey, know which character is awesome? Hex. I listened to The Settling today, while being emo, and while it did nothing for my mood, it provided my favorite thing about the Seven-Ace-Hex audios, which is the Seven-Ace and Ace-Hex relationships (I don't remember loving one of their audios for the plot. Live 34 is pretty good, but doesn't fill me with love or anything). Ace and Hex had wonderful quiet moments, the Doctor delivered a baby, and Oliver Cromwell was a bastard.

Which made me want to ask you guys if this how Oliver Cromwell come across from history - I can't pretend to be an expert, but in general I approve of Cromwell and don't like the kings Charles, generally speaking, but it occurs to me I've only studied what he did for the economy, and not so much that he killed a bunch of people. If I were to look up the period when my country's economy was booming, it would be the period under military dictatorship, which nobody remembers fondly for very good reasons, so. That's interesting. But then I felt emo and decided to look this up later.

It be Heroes time yet?

Good Omens time, then. That's nice, I'm feeling emo and so I'm going to read about the end of the world. Cute.

I think I'll read HIMYM fic later to cheer me up. For, lo, that show is awesome and I miss it so much already. Or listen to the Tate-Tennant Chain Reaction interview. That one always make me happy. ETA: just remembered that I uploaded that interview yesterday, so I'm linking in case anybody wants it.

big finish is love, emoness
