Beautiful Weather
I am in love with the weather. I know that most of you reading this are on the west coast and don't have any idea to what i am referring right now - but take my word for it. The weather in Philadelphia is beautiful right now. I am in my glory. I can go out in jeans and a t-shirt or a skirt and long sleeves and be perfectly content. The windows are open in my apartment and the air smells like soccer season. I love it! Have I mentioned that yet? Well I do.
On another exciting front, Dan and I started taking dance classes a few weeks ago. Its the best! Its a social dancing class - so we'll learn all sorts of things. Right now we are learning basic ballroom stuff and some jitterbug/swing. Its the greatest. It really helps that we both have musical backgrounds, so that hearing the beat and staying in time with the music is never a problem. Plus, its the only time Dan ever gets to be in charge (with the man leading and everything) ... its a nice change for both of us :o) Its also a perk that his parents knew we were interested in doing that and offered to pay for it. bonus. they're the best ever. so, anyway, its herds of fun and we're getting really good at it. can't wait to go out dancing :o)
we had some car drama this week - i was on the NJ turnpike when smoke started pouring out from under the hood. never a good sign. The irony is, just as that was happening, Dan was dropping off the other car because we had just sold it. So, after many tow trucks and lots of general hysteria - i made it home in just enough time to find out that Dan's mom was in the hospital but we had no transportation to get ther. grrrreat. We finally figured out what was causing the overheating (a broken radiator hose), fixed it and got to the hospital to visit. However, on the way home, we stopped for gas and the car wouldn't start again. The starter blew ... apparently the starter doesn't like extreme heat. So, yesterday was Dan and Lora fix the car day! We bought a new starter and rather than paying for labor we installed it ourselves. Which was hysterical by the way. But we did it and the car is running fine now. We even changed teh fuel filter and gave it an oil change ... all by ourselves. It was actually kind of fun and I felt a sense of accomplishment. Exciting.
Other than that, I am gearing up for my sister's wedding, which is this Friday, 10/7 @ 6:00pm. I'm excited and nervous and all the other things you can be when your big sister is getting married and you're the maid of honor. I still have to write my toast for the reception. Thats a tough one - but i'm working on it.
Well, I guess thats all for now. I love and miss you all out there in CA. I am soooooo sad that we can't have a costume party again this Halloween (remember how fun that was last year???) Rest assured that I'm thinking of you all often and always reading your posts!
