I just got back from seeing "The Corpse Bride" with Jay and Kev.
I am rather pleased to say that the movie was actually... good! It wasn't as corny, emo or drawn out as I thought it would be. Now... the song that explains the corpse bride's predicament could have used some work, but then, I think the animators were just feeling their oats and wanted to show off their claymation skills.
The maggot in Emily's (the corpse bride) noggin was a little much. I could have done without him. It provided *sort of* interesting dialogue but they didn't need it for comedic purposes. There were enough "teehee" moments and they had enough "goobies" with the waiter and the man who splits in half.
Something that bugged me, though, was at the end (which I'm not giving away because I hate people who do that). But, for those of who have seen it, if "butterflies" happened after "wine" then why didn't the other deaders "butterfly?" I would have liked some more, well, characters.
It's a good movie, but... not a great story, not how I like them anyway. It reports on the situation but you never really settle in and identify with anyone. It's like... 2001: A Space Odyssey (the movie version). Reporting on the events rather than having characters in a situation. I don't know, am I off on this? Maybe it just didn't click with me. *finicky*
