This is going to sound hypocritical, but I had the same thing. As much as I like reading other people's tips and tricks and font guides, I only felt I started to get it after I focused on it consistently for a long while. I don't consider myself an expert when it comes to text, but by now I'm at least fairly comfortable with it - and that's the result of long hours of frustration. ;)
