Thank you for your praise icons, and it's really interesting you say that about the simpler icons, since the feedback I've often had in the past is that I over-complicate my icons

Firstly, a super, super huge thank you for recommending all the great tutorials, which I am slowly but thoroughly working my way through =) I've missed most of the recent posts and updates around the icon community, and these recs are brilliant.
Thinking over both yours angelamaria's concrit on icon #4, I think I'll scrap the yellow down the side and focus more on the pinks and purple through the face, and use the lighter tones of the face for the text colour. Originally I was trying to find contrast between purple & yellow, but looking at it now, it from and clashes with the colour on the face too much. The comments on #5 have made me realise that I have never really explored using darker colour fonts; I always tend towards yellows and whites, which sort of hung over from when I was really uncomfortable with text use. So I think an exploration of coloured text is definitely in order, starting with that icon.
Thank you very much with your advice, tuts and concrit, it has been really, really helpful!!! =D
I think both angelamaria and raiindust have covered most of your concrit bases (I'd like to, in particular, second what Jess said about #5) so I don't think I'll dive into that. What I did want to make sure I commented and said was that I absolutely adore #2 here. It is a magical icon unicorn that is flawless in every way. I love the coloring. I love the yellow light on the side. I love the white, script-y texture. I love how smooth everything is while still being sharp. I want to know all this icon's secrets because it is amazing.
I don't even know what to say but the '=D' smilie sums up all my feelings and facial expression, I have been beaming for about ten minutes. I'm so happy you like it, thank you, thanks so much!!! Do you think it would be an icon worth making a tutorial for? I didn't use to, but I've recently started saving psds.
I would be all over that tutorial like butter on a baked potato. ...sorry. I just had dinner. What I mean is I would definitely love to see a tutorial for it! :D
Praise me please!
Concrit please?
I've just come back from a lengthy hiatus, so any feedback would be much appreciated!
