I just thought this was cool....

Most Americans think our government should persue a multilateral rather than a unilateral foreign policy. It is better to be respected than feared.

Most Americans think it is wrong to torture prisoners under any circumstances.

Most Americans think the government should protect the environment even if it means regulating business. The same is true for keeping food, drugs, and consumer products safe.

Most Americans think we are members of a community and should act collectively to provide for the common good. We are not simply a gaggle of free agents, each out only for selfish interests.

Most Americans think it does, in fact, take a village to raise a child.

Most Americans think all Americans should have access to health care even if the goverment is somehow involved.

Most Americans think providing affordable drugs to those who need them now is a greater good than protecting huge profits for drug manufacturers -- even if the profits are used to invent new drugs. What good is it to have all these wonder drugs if people can't afford them?

Most Americans think Social Security has problems that need to be addressed, but the program should not be radically altered. It is part of the social safety net, not another 401k.

Most Americans believe gays and lesbians should be able to form unions and enjoy the same benefits as heterosexual couples. (I will grant, however, that a solid majority opposes calling these unions "marriages".)

Most Americans believe the Second Amendment applies to "well regulated militias", not every Tom, Dick, and Harry who wants an Uzi.

Most Americans think abortion should be safe, legal, and rare.

Most Americans think the best way to keep abortion rare is to educate kids about contraception, not to keep them ignorant.

Most Americans understand that the purpose of keeping religion out of official government affairs is to protect the very existance of religion.

Most Americans think it is important to provide the same access to voting machines in poor precincts as in wealthy ones. Democracy means counting all the votes.

Most Americans think the government should balance its budget and not burden future generations with debt.

Most Americans think that those who benefit the most from the opportunities our nation provides should put the most back into it.

Most Americans think the phenomenon of global warming has been sufficiently proven by scientists and our government should act on their recommendations.

Most Americans think evolution should be taught in science classes and not religious dogma like "intelligent design".
