Yuletide letter :) (Updated 11/1)

Dear lovely Yuletide writer,

First off, don't freak out. Because you know what I wouldn't have if I didn't participate in Yuletide? A story in one of my favorite obscure fandoms. :) So don't fret. I'm sure I'll love what you write. If it's helpful to see stuff I write or like, I'm on AO3 as wonderluck. And if you have questions about stuff I didn't mention here (cross-overs, etc.), feel free to hit up my buddy sexghosts on tumblr.

Let's go ahead and get my "please avoid" list out of the way: non-con, character death (only the ones listed-you can kill others), het sex, thematic AUs (like coffee shop, etc. because I prefer the worlds the characters are in), humiliation, genderswap, lots of talk about parental death.

I enjoy a lot of things, so these are just a few of my many likes: hurt/comfort, humor, competency, angst, banter, dark themes, tropes (fake relationship, trapped together), flawed characters, younger women making the first move, introspection.

As for the fic itself, any rating works for me. Sex or no sex, I'm good with either. Everything is optional and if you have an existing idea, go ahead and run with it. I'm just excited to see more fic. :)

Alien: Resurrection (Ripley/Call)
I definitely sail the good ship Ripley/Call. Their interaction brings me back to this pairing every time. This snarky hybrid version of Ripley is interesting because you can't always tell what her motivations are (like was she reborn without filters or is that her alien DNA making her a little mean?), but she's also all about Call and a chance to survive. Call is shaky at times because she's not sure how much of what she does is preprogrammed, but she's still a badass that is not easily intimidated. She waltzed onto a military ship and was ready to kill their dangerous pet project with just a knife. That takes guts and I like that about her. I think Ripley and Call are great together because they connect as outsiders that are completely alone in the world. They just complement each other nicely.

In the Director's Cut they land in Paris, so anything about their adventures in Paris is great. (You can also go with another part of Earth/space/a different planet if that suits you). They could be on the run with a bounty on their heads, outsmarting the bad guys and kicking ass. Or they could settle down in one place knowing they've gotten far enough off the radar that they're safe and can get to know each other in peace. Or there's been a full-on apocalypse and they have to deal with that. A day in the life is always good (maybe teaching each other something, spending the day scavenging, or fixing the ship). How they deal with being potentially in love is something I'm definitely up for reading. Really, it's your call. :)

The Fall (Stella/Dani or Stella/Reed or no ship and just flirting - I'm explicitly saying you can leave out Dani if you get stuck or prefer Stella/Reed)
This show is fabulous. Stella is a character that is life goal material: infinitely capable, unflappable, won't take anyone's shit about anything. She carries her head high and asks for what she wants. One thing I found interesting about her was that, while she didn't show anyone anything but her game face, she did let herself be vulnerable around Dani and Reed. (Oh and you don't have to include all 3 of them in a fic).

Her relationship with Reed is great to see, season 1 and season 2. (And that kiss! Be still my little gay heart). They're two seasoned, professional women making their way in male-dominated fields. They could have missing scene stuff while working on the case with Stella losing sleep and Reed keeping her steady. Or a future case. Or a follow-through on Stella's offer (it's been written, but so what)? :) Or flirty kisses that go no further.

Dani is a favorite for me and there was not nearly enough Dani in season 2. She's less sure of herself than the other women, but she's honest, upstanding, and even bold. And I think she has heart eyes for Stella. Maybe something set during the case, canon-divergent where Dani gets to do more stuff. Something set after the case is solved is great too. Maybe they're exhausted and "what do you say to a real date?" Or Stella stays on in Belfast and Dani's hard work earns her a promotion. I just adore them together in any capacity.

Copycat (MJ/Helen)
I've shipped MJ and Helen since forever. Their dynamic is excellent with Helen all unpredictable and MJ full of sass and rolling her eyes, morphing into Helen putting on her serial killer whisperer hat and MJ starting to unravel after Reuben's death. I'd like to think that MJ and Helen would find comfort in each other after the events in the movie. They've been through a lot and share mutual trauma. And they were both willing to die for each other, which fills my heart with buckets of feelings.

I'm curious as to what comes next. Does Helen still have agoraphobia? Does MJ have PTSD? (Trauma was a theme in the movie so it'd be interesting to see how they handle it). Does Helen watch over MJ as her wounds heal or check in on her? Does MJ get a commendation where she wears her uniform? Because I'm all about MJ in uniform and Helen probably is too. Has MJ had relationships with women before so she realizes that, though she's resisted it, she's fallen for Helen? Helen could be a little slow on the uptake, like realizing she wants to know all about what MJ's up to and feels a wee bit possessive and is like "OH SHIT." Does Helen write a new book? Is there a new killer that MJ must hunt down? Or they could take a road trip to get away from it all. Really, the amount of fic written for this fandom is so small that anything you write is a gift to the world.

Thanks again, dear author. I can't wait to see how it all turns out.
