Shiny new experimental hybrid relationship drabbadoodle meme!
This is basically how it works: if any of my characters have met any of yours, comment here and I'll do tiny drabbles/doodles about each of the relationships they have! Sound good? OKAY GO!

1. Saya and Yuma
For the elite shinigami of EnMaCho, there is never a 'happily ever after.' Death is their profession, and truth-spun nightmare their burden. That is the real reason they work in pairs--to share what makes each other, so it does not shatter them beyond repair.
Saya knows Yuma has been betrayed, because Yuma lets no one betray Saya without consequence. Yuma closes her eyes and sees Saya falling, falling, because in the next instant her partner catches hold of her, keeps her still.
Most importantly, Saya and Yuma make each other happy. When they lose themselves in a pretense of normalcy, in fashion, silk and 'how pretty is that boy in the window?,' Yuma forgets that she is no longer alive. Even if she's never asked, she believes (or perhaps wishes?) that Saya feels the same way.
Yuma hopes with all her heart that if it cannot last as long as the two of them do, then it will at least last long enough. In the meantime she reaches out, touching some part of her partner, smooth hair or warm palm or slender shoulder, and thinks together, to anchor them both.
2. Byakko and Yuma
The first time Yuma met Byakko, he nearly killed her. It wasn't his fault--Tsuzuki and Terazuma had simply gotten too heated in their argument over nothing, as they usually did--but that didn't prevent one of EnMaCho's central office buildings from crumbling in the gale-force winds. They whipped her off her feet as she tried her best to run for safety, and she just had time to glimpse the Tiger through a shattered windowframe (how beautiful, how strong), before she smacked her head into a wall and got knocked out.
The second time Yuma met Byakko, she put him in a dress. It was only after exclaiming over how it suited his colouring for a good five minutes that she and Saya noticed the tip of his tail twitching from underneath the lacy hem. They exchanged mildly panic-stricken glances and then looked to Tsuzuki for advice, but their colleague was laughing too hard to be of any help.
The third time Yuma met Byakko, she was tackled to the ground, and offered him a sincere hug and a sheepish little grin. "Ah, Byakko-san," she managed, after getting some air back into her lungs. "Welcome to Camp Fuck You Die! ♥"
I'll scan the Byakko and Yachiru doodle tomorrow afternoon. 8Db
