Hello! Here are some random updates since I haven't written in a few weeks.
After a serious movie going drought, (hadn't been to the theatre since Sweeney Todd) I've seen three movies in the past few weeks. Indiana Jones was meh. If I hadn't seen it with
goldiebug callywaggy redpimpernel and
willowcatmom, along with other out of state folk, I would have been irritated that I spent the price for an evening movie. But seeing it with a large, fun group made up for the things I didn't like about the movie. Then, mom picked Prince Caspian for her Mother's Day movie. While Prince Caspian is not my favorite (nor least fav) of the Narnia series, I thuroughly enjoyed the movie. A boy who was maybe about 6 would occasionally shout "Narnia!" during battle scenes which added to the charm of the movie. Finally, I saw Iron Man last week and LOVED IT! Robert Downey Jr. is such a talented actor, and it is nice to see a celebrity return to work after multiple stays in rehab. When Get Smart comes out we will see that for Father's Day and I hope it's not disappointing. I really like Steve Carrell and Anne Hathaway, so I think it should be decent.
I've been trying to read more lately and finished a couple good teen paranormal novels. Vampire Diaries is a reprint of a series from the 1990s. They've printed the original four volume series in two volumes, probably because Harry Potter and Twilight have proved that young people will read large books as long as they are engaging. Volume 1 was pretty good. It's funny to read it though because something about the writing says to me "1990s YA horror novel." It just fits in seamlessly with all the R. L. Stine, Christopher Pike, Diane Hoh, and Richie Cusik that I read in middle school. Makes me nostalgic. (I will not go onto e-bay to find the books I loved from back then. I won't. I promise.) Also read City of Ashes, sequel to City of Bones. Some of the best urban fantasy for teens.
Okay, even I'm sick of me so if there's more I want to share, I will do so later.
