[Satori has had her arm back for some time now, but today something has occurred to her.

And what better way to share her macabre thoughts than over the entire phone network!]This is the second time I've seen my arm since I lost it. At least it's properly attached to me this time. Though I have to wonder if it's even my own arm...the one Koishi ( Read more... )

Oh, yes, that's completely normal.

What is? Losing an arm, or receiving someone else's body parts as compensation?

Losing an arm. I'm fairly certain the one I got back is my own.

Fairly certain, but there's really no way to tell in my case. I didn't have any peculiar marks or anything else to give it away.

In the end it doesn't matter, because it's my arm now, but...well, I do admit I'm curious.

Is there any reason in particular that you suspect it might not have originally belonged to you?

Put simply, I lost it too long ago for this to conceivably be my arm. The original should have rotted away by now.

I'm aware the word "conceivable" means nothing here, but it's something I wonder about. It's equally possible for this to be my own limb as it is for it to be someone else's. Neither answer would be surprising at this point.

Perhaps the people in charge of this town are capable of manipulating space-time as well as the state of our own bodies. If you think of it that way, it becomes entirely possible for them to return your arm from a date before you had originally lost it.

And further, why would they take my arm as payment only to return it later? In the end it's still essentially getting something from the post office for free.

I suppose having your limb sent back to you denies you a more useful ability at that time, but theoretically one could go to the post office as many times as they wanted and still suffer no long-standing consequences, receiving something that they really want or need the moment they want or need it in exchange. You might have to suffer being limbless or blind or...deal with the consequences for a few months, but in the end you're not really punished for it.

It's something to think about.

I know! Isn't it great?

I'm not sure if that's the word I'd choose, but that's one way of looking at it.

I wonder if it's simply an oversight on Mayfield's part, or if it was intentional. Though I can't imagine why receiving our abilities and...extra parts would be something they'd want.

Who knows, but you won't see me complaining about it.

That's a good attitude.

Best not to question the generosity of someone who has such complete control over our situation.
