Hiatus and damn poems

I'm really tired of people telling me to read deeper in to a poem, because I think that there's really not much more to read into it. I told you what I think was the author's intent, metaphors, mood, and all that crap. What more can I read into it? Make things up? This is why I hate english. It's bull crap. You have no idea if the author meant that ( Read more... )

LORD, I loved english in high school but I will NOT take it in college (and thanks to two ap english tests, I wont have to), for those very reasons.

don't get me wrong. I think analysis can be fun. If an author doesn't put a period at the end of a poem? I don't care about the author's actual INTENT, I use it to justify whatever bs I'm writing for my analysis. like "it means there is no end" or "gives a feeling of being incomplete". lol, i was queen of bs in high school, as you can guess.

i don't think it's wrong to make shit up like that either, because part of art is intent, but part of it is also interpretation. and in high school, it usually doesn't matter if you've struck on a "right" interpretation as long as you prove your point, yeah? eloquence, etc.

BUT. but. no way in HELL that I'm going to take college english, because some of those classes just go too far. TOO MUCH, I SAY. I helped a friend through a class, and even THAT was hell.

so I study biology now. HAHA. even though I love reading and writing! there's just a limit i won't cross.
