So I'm surprised LJ let me log on, since I just blew off the 8 inches of dust that had collected on it. Every time I open up the internet, my Friends page appears and I get a tiny ping of...well, I can't exactly pinpoint what that 'ping' feels like, but all I know is that I miss it...I miss updating every 5 minutes...I miss YOU GUYS!!! [small tear]
The lowdown on my life thus far:
I'm still working as a Kitchen and Bath designer at the Big Orange Box (aka Home Depot). Trust me when I say it's not nearly as glamourous as it might seem. I make a decent hourly wage, but not NEARLY decent enough to make up for all the shit I have to deal with on a daily basis. Whatever you do, NEVER work for that large of a corporate company. I did Walmart when I graduated high school, I should've learned my lesson then. The management blames everything on "Atlanta" (where HD is based)...everything from the air conditioners not working to specialty departments (ie myself) being forced to wear dress pants on Saturdays/Sundays. I've closed 2 days in a row now and tomorrow will be the third. My entire shift, from 1 to 10, I'll be covering plumbing. What?! PLUMBING. Do I LOOK like a plumber? I think not. Fortunately, I have a co-worker whom I can bounce sarcasm off of like nothing else, so that makes work slightly more entertaining. Both she and I are looking for other jobs at the moment. Just like every other person I've talked to at the store.
Speaking of other jobs, one of the associates in Floor & Wall, her husband works at Hallmark in the IT department. I am going to call and talk to her husband on Wednesday about an open position that I saw on CareerBuilder, just to see if it's legit. I'm reading What Color is Your Parachute and it's really got me going on this career change thing. Oye.
Matt and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary on September 10th! I told him that it was all up to him to plan...and oh *did* he. The first thing he did was take me to Build-a-Bear. I'll post a picture soon of "Buddy", aptly named after our dog. Next, I took him to All Fired Up, a place you can go and paint pottery. That was the only part of the day that *I* planned. I'll post a picture of what we painted there soon, too. We then headed to The Melting Pot. Omg. Best food EVER! EVER. EVER! If you have one in your city or somewhere nearby, GO. I beg of you to GO! It was so romantic. They had taken us to a regular booth when we first walked in, but then Matt asked if they had anything more "private" and they led us to a tiny L-shaped booth with tall walls and a curtain. [swoon] Most romantic, expensive place we've ever been. Did I mention expensive? But so worth it, trust me. Anyway...great anniversary. Wouldn't have traded it for the world.
That's basically it...my life is work, sleep, eat, take dog outside, worksleepeat. Fun times.
Oh! Heroes on NBC? Craaaaaazy show. Love it! It's crazy! So is Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. And OMG Lost starts so soooooon! SO SOOOOON!!! CAN'T WAIIIIIT! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!
M'kay, bye.
