Hi ladies! I'm new here. My name is Brieanna and I'm 17. I graduate this year, and I've been looking into colleges. Only 2 out of the 7 colleges I've applied to have been women's colleges, but I'm looking to find out more about them from anyone who has gone there. I've applied to Saint Joseph College and Simmons College, and I have a few questions.
-What is campus life like? I plan on being a resident student, so.. how are the dorms? -I'm going in for nursing. How is the nursing program? Are the nursing majors happy with the school's program?
-Is there an opportunity to do something like a co-op/internship program?
-For the Simmons women.. how much of an advantage is there with the college being in the Longwood Medical Area? My top school, Northeastern, isn't too far from there. If I don't get in at NU, I'm definitely leaning towards Simmons over SJC, because of the fact that it's in the medical area. I think what I'm trying to ask is, is it enough of an advantage to impact a decision about where I go? Like, are there more opportunities for work or co-op open to you, being so close to the medical area and several hospitals?
-What are the advantages of West Hartford? I really love Boston and am already familiar with it, but I'm not really sure what CT has to offer.
Anything else you could tell me would be awesome, too.. like if you're happy at the school, how you feel about the teachers and other staff, what the facilities are like, etc. Thanks so much.
Oh, and I *am* reading through the posts in the tags, but anything you could add would be great.
Can anyone give me a general idea of how much of a chance I have at getting in at Simmons? I know it's nearly impossible to predict, but.. a general idea, maybe? :)
SAT Reasoning: Critical Reading - 640, Math - 460, Writing - 670
SAT Subject Tests: Biology E/M - 520, Math Level 1 - 460
I've taken a few AP courses (European History and English - Lit & Composition) and honors courses (Advanced 3D Art, Honors English 10, and Anatomy & Physiology). I've taken 7 electives between my freshmen and senior years.
The only school-related extracurricular I really had was LEO Club in 9th grade. I was in FCCLA previous to that. I have several other extracurriculars, like playing electric guitar, graphic design, drawing, photography, playing soccer and baseball (not on a team), and writing, which I spend significant time on.
I've really been pushing myself within the last 2-3 years, so my grades HAVE improved, but the lowest I've ever gotten was a C- in Algebra II. Long story short, the junior high I went to had this weird order of Pre-Algebra in 7th, Algebra I in 8th, Algebra II in 9th, and you took Geometry when you got to senior high and hit 10th grade. Needless to say, the way they taught it messed me up and I just don't get Algebra, haha. I have been trying, though. I'm retaking Algebra II this year to see if I can improve my grades as far as that goes.
I can't really think of anything else ><
