Okay...what I want to know is...what's with all the negative stereotypes of women's colleges flying around? Everytime I go to a college help or college aid community, only a small number of the women in the forums are actively considering and pursuing a women's college, and they are all like..."I'd really like to go to [insert women's college here] -- the campus is beautiful, and everyone is really nice, and the financial aid is awesome, but I just don't know if I want to be around women all day! Too much estrogen!"

I get riled up when I see people say that, but even more so when I see other women who have never attended a women's college start talking about how they "couldn't deal with that." Like one young lady said a whole lot to discourage another young lady from considering women's colleges because of her experiences as a private girls' high school. Inside I'm thinking, "Okay ladies, a women's college is WAY WAY different from a girls' high school. It's not some higher finishing school...it's college!"

Thoughts?

anti-women's college sentiment, stereotypes, high school vs. college, pre-college impressions
