Hmm, I'm not sure if the weakness is related to some kind of a nerve issue, or if it is something you've experienced before...like when you mentioned "weak core muscles"? I've had shots of Toradol (a pain killer they often give around the time of surgeries, though not a narcotic medication) injected into my hips previously, but I did not have any hip weakness, other than I could feel some soreness at the injection spot after the pain killer kicked in--if the injection was early enough in the course of the migraine to have any significant impact (or I guess it could have been near the end of the migraine at that point instead). When the pain killer did not kick in enough to knock out my pain following injections, the soreness around the injection spots didn't feel stronger than my other pain, so I didn't really notice the soreness as much at that point, because I get ocular migraines and my eyes were still killing me.
I think when I did feel the soreness it probably took about 3-4 days to completely go away, but I figured that's because I couldn't get myself to sit still after I had more energy back with less pain. So, in terms of your point about having to rest, I didn't right away, I went to class right after having the injection done and hoped the injection might kick in more during class so I could have a chance of focusing on something other than the pain. If not, I figured I'd probably still need the notes from that day, so at least I could write those down. I mean, taking some time to rest probably makes sense though, You said your muscles were weakened. Is the pain you're feeling now on the opposite side from where you have the weak muscles then? In my case, the injections (when they worked with Toradol) helped with the short-term migraine pain, but now I'm on a preventative and the pill form of the pain killer they'd injected previously. In my case, Naproxen hasn't done anything for me in years, but hopefully it works for you.
I have had weird reactions taking prednisone (and I think there was one other corticosteroid that I took as well) from like a small pack of pills though because when I was coming off of it, it made me so moody that I'm not sure what was a bodily type of weakness and what was what appeared to be some minor form of withdrawal or something going on after 10 days. I felt so tired and low blood sugar and simultaneously felt so bloated and not hungry, and maybe it's just that I was back in pain after the fact, but honestly I was afraid to drive for a few days until I felt like I'd have more control over my body's reaction during the day. I don't know, but I've never cried so much in a row in my life for reasons I couldn't even understand. I wasn't going on any longer walks either right after that one (hehe). Granted, I think one of the times I was on a corticosteroid for pain and the other time was when they'd injected another medication that I happened to be allergic to and my arm was swelling up where the IV had been and started turning red with the swelling and it went on for like 5-7 days and then I was like umm.....I think I need to do something about this, it kind of hurts when I touch it. Basically, they injected what I think was basically prednisone into the red swollen spot, which helped, and sent me with a prescription for prednisone (or the corticosteroid, I can't remember which one it was at the time right now) to keep the swelling down and the pain away.
Hope you feel better soon though, but in my experience, if you're having a weird drop off effect from the steroids, it probably took me maybe 4 or 5 days to feel totally back up to my general energy level. Again, I'll note, I think my pain came back after being off of the steroids which may also be part of the 4-5 days that were truly AWFUL after I stopped taking the prednisone.
Have you had any change in weakness from when you posted the original entry to now?
