Science: it's a girl thing!

Jul 07, 2014 13:16

Европейская кампания 'Science: it's a girl thing!'

Facebook - ‘Ask a scientist!’ app allowing girls to contact you directly to ask their questions on science and careers.
https://www.facebook.com/sciencegirlthing/app_671043852939536

Facebook - chat/discussion with young girls in our 'Ask an inspiring scientist' chats (1 hour - 1,5 hour)

и т.п.

The European Commission's campaign 'Science: it's a girl thing!' encourages girls aged 13-18 to study science and embrace a scientific career.
One of the activities of the campaign is to produce video profiles of women in science to give girls a living snapshot of real women scientists, both at work and in their free time. A number of inspiring women working in science already feature in our video profiles on our website.

However, there are a number of professions that we are missing and we are eager to represent them. If you belong to one of the professions below (or know a female colleague who does) and are interested in shooting a video, please get in contact with us via: rtd-wiri@ec.europa.eu. We’ll send you a tutorial and we’ll take care of the editing.

The website is in all EU languages. As we don't have yet videos of women scientists from Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia or Slovenia, we would be all the more interested if you come from one of these countries.

Renewable Energy Engineer Data Security Specialist Environmental Geriatrician Climatologist
Ocean Engineer Software Engineer Agronomist Marine Biologist
Fuel Cell Engineer Neuroscientist Dietician Zoologist
Computer Forensic Analyst Aerospace Engineer Biochemist Hydrologist
Naval architect Mechanical Engineer

Already 150 women scientists participate in our activities and help us to really show young women the vast possibilities that a career in science has to offer.
If you don't feel like shooting a video but would like to take part in other activities of the campaign (e.g. chats on Facebook, photo album of women in science, etc.) send us an email at RTD-WIRI@ec.europa.eu

This is your opportunity to take part in the campaign, and encourage more girls to get into sciences!

Many thanks,
The 'Science: it’s a girl thing!' Campaign Team
