PSP Questions

I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I've just recently (recently as in last night) become aware that Final Fantasy IV Complete exists and is available for the PSP. I don't own a PSP. I've been flirting with the idea of buying one for some time now, but I'm a little fuzzy about what I need to get started. I'm ok with buying a used or refurbished unit, but what should I be spending? How much is too much? Also, I think I read somewhere that the PSP uses a memory card. Is this accurate?
