Okamiden
Hey ladies!
I was just wondering, who's got their hands on Okamiden and how many of you are playing it??
For those of you who are, I was curious to know: How do you think it stands against the original? Is there anything about the game that's annoying you? What do you think - it the gameplay better on the DS, or on the PS2?
Personally, I'm loving the game. I'm, admittedly, not very far in the game yet (Working my way through North Ryoshima Coast), but I'm finding drawing the techniques alot easier using the DS.
The things that are kinda bugging me are really little things; not being able to dig, double-jump, or walk on the water (or even swim!) like Ammy was able to. The lack of celestial pouches. The constant changing of partners is grating on my nerves, And the translators were, clearly, slack at times considering there are moments where the text is missing a word or two.
Also, is it just me ... or are the bosses a little more ... irritating to beat? It took me forever to realise how to defeat that Hell Witch in the demon-market.
As far as sequel's go, the game merges mostly well with the original. My one major "That doesn't fit!!" was, naturally enough, who the hell is Chibiterasu's .... Dad? ... Actually, make that one of two major irks. My other is that all through Okami, it seems like Ammy is a guy (Did anyone get the Golden Shower ability? The wolf very clearly pee's like a male dog), and now, all of a sudden ... he's become a she? What? I get that Amaterasu is a female god, but the wolf was a male in the original, wasn't it??
... Buuuut, aside from that, I'm really enjoying the game. I've been playing it at every chance I can get - it's even kicked Black out of the DS only after a week of getting that game.
