What's been happening lately:
Girl's Night Out w/ (who else?!) Danielle and Stacie, complete with sword-bearing cherry stem pirates and cleavage expansive enough to support a plate and gummy worm boobs and pretty dresses and even prettier friends, and a good movie. Will Ferrel yelling "Mom, the meatloaf, we want it NOW.... Mom, the meatloaf, F*CK!!", and making me laugh almost so hard I cried.
Stonybrook. There was a stony brook (seriously, there was almost nothing BUT rocks because it hadn't rained in so long) and the annoyance of being with Tyson, who seems to think he possesses intuitive powers and knows what everyone else is thinking ("yeah, they were looking straight at you and i could almost read their lips"/ "they had a foot fettish") but thinks of little more than food, himself, or a combination of the two. Lots of laughs in being with Stacie and Danielle, especially when we went out for ice-cream on the way home, and I was scolded for scooping up Danielle's sprinkle scraps, and her ice cream melted all over her in an avalanche of vanilla. And we saw some teenage girl getting cuffed by the cops. "haha....you"
Hershey Park!! I woke up a full hour after my alarm went off Friday morning, so I was freaking out a little bit trying to get everything around for the trip. But Stacie and I made it to the bus on time, and we spent the next 4 hours on it with some of society's best, including some older dude who pretty much stranded his kid alone in the park and got on the bus to go back home 15 minutes late and tried to make up for it by sharing his chocolate with everyone, as well as a slow couple that stole the old folks' luggage. There was an unexpected visit on Friday evening that caused some problems, and a bit of sickness on Saturday morning, and Stacie losing her wallet temporarily on Sat. night, but overall it was an awesome trip. We went on the chocolate making tour that ended with this song: "i love chocolate, i love chocolate", and with lots of pictures of smiling, happy people shoveling chocolate into their mouths, and finally with a massive store selling nothing but chocolate. Brainwashing, I tell ya. It made me laugh a lot. And there was the zoo, and a couple disappointing roller coasters, and another roller coaster that shot us off like a rocket at 80 mph and was well worth the 1 1/2 hour wait, and some unexpected soakage, and lots and lots and lots of walking. Oh, and a huge sundae that we made a mess of, and that we laughed so hard we cried after eating due to the combined effect of sugar and our weirdness.
And I realize that this post is already really long, but I recently finished reading a really good book called My Sister's Keeper, and I wanted to share a couple of the quotes:
"Life sometimes gets so bogged down in the details, you forget you are living. There is always another appointment to be met, another bill to pay... another uneventful day to be notched into the wooden wall. We have synchronized our watches, studied our calendars, existed in minutes, and completely forgotten to step back and see what we have accomplished."
"Anna lies down, her head pillowed against my shoulder. Every second, another streak of silver glows: parentheses, exclamation points, commas- a whole grammar made of light, for words that are too hard to speak."
