can you get everything you want?
Just finished watching Alice's Restaurant, 1969. Arlo is so young (22). And the movie is so cynical. A real edict on the peace and love movement of the 60's not being what it was all made out to be. In-fighting, drugs, loveless casual sex, deceit. All this written by the very young Arlo. I guess he saw so much growing up with his crazy dad. Still, I always figured people in the movement and time were oblivious to the hypocrisy of it all. Guess not. Surprised to read that the movie was actually filmed in the church that Alice bought and that was the real restaurant too. Even the arresting officer was played by himself. If you feel like a bit of 60's NY flower culture, rent it.
