Quite interesting stuff. [Not just for Detour -- since next year will be the first year that I attend.]

I don't necessarily agree [or disagree] with every point you make, but it's very interesting to see, and there are some good points.

Obviously, you are also coming very close to the unsolicited advice you warn against! :)

I view this and the Anime Detour Philosophy piece that preceded it as historical documents, after a fashion; they explain what was on my mind when I wrote the ATC Bylaws and ran the convention from 2004-2005. If the current Detour staff wants to see it as unsolicited advice, then they're reading something into it that isn't there.
