Once again the AP and the rest of the lamestream media cover themselves with crap by
blatantly misrepresenting the facts. The facts as reported by
Mary O'Grady at the WSJ and
blogger Fausta are somewhat different, to say the least.
Yes, Zelaya was legitimately elected. Yes, the Honduran Army removed him from office. What tends to get buried several paragraphs down is that Zelaya was violating the Honduran constitution and trying to pull a Chavez by illegally amending the Honduran constitution by plebiscite.
The Army was required to arrest him*. All this is laid out on Fausta's blog and in O'Grady's article, whereas the AP article makes it sound like a "he says, they say" situation by quoting Micheletti instead of just
looking at the damn constitution.
As far as I'm concerned, Zelaya is lucky to be still using up air instead of having been "shot while attempting to escape". I hope the Hondurans' act of mercy doesn't come back to bit them in the ass.
