your parents are always.... your parents. a special category that is only ever the two of them, sometimes a few more people if your life takes a turn in that direction.... special category of emotions and recognition of truths.
any "SO" that would tear down your family should be flogged; yet I have said an unkind thing once in a while about such people and such things (thankfully my second wife's family is far far far more to my liking than my first wife's was) so maybe there is room for understanding there too. but not a lot.
The other night in the middle of a dream I was standing in the kitchen of the house that I grew up in, and my mom and dad were there, mom sitting at the table, dad standing in the doorway, me standing by the sink. nothing remarkable at all being done or said, and I don't think it lasted for more than a moment.
But it left a very nice feeling that I can access even now. That stuff is in there, in you, so be open to it. They were good people, and you are too.
