Off to the races

This will be a somewhat busy day. Down to Woodbridge to submit the first revision of my financial aid appeal, over to Costco and Harris Teeter for grocery shopping, and a stop for gas somewhere along the line, probably at Wawa down by the college since it's only $3.75 down there and a lot higher everywhere else.

Next Thursday will be very different, as Doc Laredo is going to take a laser to my shiftless & lazy leg veins. This will probably get me an overnight stay at Uncle Eric's, since they want me there at 1500 for a 1600 surgery time, and I'm not at all sure how well I'll be able to ambulate (much less drive) after the procedure. I could be wrong, and I may be able to make it home on a wing and a prayer and a couple of Tylenol, but we'll see. It's supposed to be outpatient surgery, but I've heard that line before.

In the meantime, I am pleased that the Nationals are moving inexorably closer to a playoff spot; the magic number is 1 now for the playoffs and 9 for the NL East championship. The Phillies visit Atlanta this weekend, and maybe they'll do us some favors. :) As for the Twins, they're doing better than the Astros, which isn't saying a whole lot.
Appropriately enough, I'm reading "A History Of Baseball In Kansas City" from Bill James' This Time Let's Not Eat the Bones
, which is somewhat appropriate given the history of baseball here in DC and the Nationals' verging on the playoffs. Hopefully the Nats' 2012 season will end in the same way the Royals' did in 1985.

medical stuff, domestic stuff, baseball
