Freedom For The Toaster, or, Go West, Young Woman!

Feb 24, 2011 01:12

Well, it took me long enough, but thanks to this semester's student loan proceeds, I paid off the Toaster. Now to make the calls to Progressive to get the insurance trimmed back to something much less expensive, since I don't need to carry comprehensive insurance on it any more.

Those of you in the DC area may be interested to know that P will be taking a transfer to a new Amazon data center in Eastern Oregon/Washington in a couple of weeks, somewhere near Hanford where the radioactive taters grow and glow. This seems to be something encoded in the Trainor genes, I suspect, this urge to come home to the ancestral stomping grounds and then head off into some distant land unexplored by previous generations. As is traditional, a farewell party will be held; also in keeping with tradition, I'm looking at the Brickskeller or the Denny's in Laurel, which have been the sites of previous memorable departures for faraway lands. I am, of course, open to other suggestions. Party may happen on the 11th, 12th, or 13th, depending on whether P winds up working right up until the day of departure or actually gets a couple days off that weekend, but I'm leaning strongly toward the 12th if at all possible.

UPDATE: Party is on for 6 PM March 1112 at the Brickskeller. Notices posted on e2 and Facebook. Be there and/or be square.
