I finished the fifth chapter of the novel that I'm writing.

I thought that I was going to do a speech on how the economics and other factors in interplanetary shipping effected the way young women in the Mars colonies dressed for the high school prom.

Think minimalist.

Instead I spent a lot of words on the story of how their personal weapons were created.

At least you weren't trying to describe a future interstellar commerce network in terms of an Indian Ocean dhow traffic analogy. Because as we both know, it's been done. ;)
