So here I am again trying to get into shape... This is my new routine for the remainder of winter/spring. If you know more about lifting than I do (and that's not hard) please comment. I'm trying to consolidate Wednesdays to do less exercises but be equally effective. I'm doing 3 sets of 5 reps, adding one rep a week until I'm doing 10 reps, ( Read more... )

I used to take taekowndo a while back
I'm technically a greenbelt though i haven't practiced in ages.

I know some fundamentals of judo (more like of philosophy and approach than technique) but the closest I've come to it is Aikido.

What did you need to know?

Just what they are/what the difference is between them in practice, that sort of thing, to see if I would be interested in either once I move back to the city.

Thanks for the info. I think of the two, Judo seems more something I might like to try, but I think I am going to look at some other options too. Maybe boxing!

If you can find it, try Aikido. It rules.

What is the one that uses those really long sticks? Not sharp ones, like fencing or whatever. Is there any like that? (walk softly and carry a big stick)

Staffs. Many of them do. Many forms of kung fu, karate, aikido, etc. It's the most basic of weapons training so you'll find it in almost any place that does weapons of any sort. Ask around or look online for staff fighting, you're chances of finding something that teaches the staff is very good.
