Stupid gen. eds. I have a group project due for theatre and I got stuck doing like 10 pages of work for it. I'm three pages into this bastard. Wow. This sucks. I'm tired, and this project is incredibly stupid.
Since I don't have a lot of work to do, I'll tell you how things are going... I finished glazing today!!!! But I still have to paint one last cup in the style of Jackson Pollock. That makes three cup assignments out of five. What a ridiculous ceramics course. But it's cool, I made a stellar sculptural piece for one of the assignments. It's a head (made with coils so it's lighter, I learned that trick at Moore back in the day) that looks like some sort of Russian dance teacher. She's pretty scary. I'm going to give her a sweat band. I iron oxide(d) her features so they'd stick out more under the glaze and to give her some hair color, but some of it dripped. Those drips are going to be there forever friends, for two reasons. Reason the first, the ear blew off when it was bisque fired, and second, the drips on the forehead look like she was hit with a blunt object. The drips are now blood so it's a dead Russian dance teacher, or Van Gough's lover reciprocating her feelings for him by cutting off her own ear and bludgeoning herself to death. That's what we came up with in the glaze room anyway.
Tuesday's scene in acting went really well, so I thought that was our final, but nope! We've got to perform it tomorrow for the camera. He didn't say anything bad about what we did so I guess I hope we do that well again this time ::shrugs::.
Upon final analysis, other than Metals, here's what I think I'll get for the semester Ceramics A, Metals B, Product Design A!, Theatre B (the B is for "Because I don't care!"), Acting A, Math B (another "I don't care enough to do your silly assignments" class). Three As and three Bs is decent enough I guess. Honestly, I feel like I'm playing a game. I know these letters, including GPA and QPA mean nothing as long as the GPA stays above a 3.0 (for my dad mostly). I really want to beat my high score though. It sounds silly, but that's about my only motivation for now. That is, to do better than the semester before. Maybe I should focus more on producing decent artwork worthy of going into my portfolio...
P.S.- "Rize" is a fantastic documentary about a form of break dancing in the worst parts of south Los Angeles. There are two styles called clowning and krumping. They battle it out each year at a thing called Battlezone, but I think the cooler stuff is what they do on the streets. Instead of being in gangs they are in clown groups or hang out and krump together. They take care of each other and make sure they stay out of trouble/dugs/crime. The documentary is really disorganized, but I didn't really care, it actually added some humor. It's really well photographed or cinemagraphed? anyway, the director is a photographer and dance video guy, so he really knew how to film all this. It came out in June and since it just played here, I bet it'll be out on DVD soon. It's worth seeing...
Okay, really have to go do work now.
