Healthcare bill-any other ideas?

For those of you who are mad at the health care bill passing, I would like to hear your real ideas for fixing health care in this country, which is definitely broken. Costs are skyrocketing, businesses and workers who have insurance through work are suffering from rising costs, small businesses can't afford to cover their workers, but the individual insurance market is totally f-ed because of the twin devils of pre-existing conditions and recension. The billing departments of hospitals are wasting tons of $ because of our insane billing systems, since there is no real price for a procedure, your price depends on your insurance company, with the uninsured paying the most. People die from not having insurance coverage. Uninsured people put off getting care until they have to go to the emergency room, where they leave their bill and the cost, which is much higher than a regular Dr's visit would've been, gets passed onto the insured. For those who are covered, the incentives for Dr's are to give procedures rather than to keep people healthy.

This main theme (one might say the thesis statement, if it were an essay) of this bill rests on the principles of getting rid of the pre-existing conditions issue, which means people all need to have insurance or the price will just go up and up, which means we need to help poor people with subsidies. Those three need to go together, one won't work without the other two. Lowering cost is another huge issue, important, but since it's experimental, the bill just includes small-scale experiments for now, till we know what works.

The thing is, even if you are healthy and covered, the individual market for insurance is unreliable, so a savy person like myself, who is afraid of being dropped right when I need insurance, will only work for a business with group insurance. If you have a job that covers your insurance, you could loose your job and loose coverage any day. This system is not good. The majority of bankruptcies are due to medical issues and the most of those people actually HAD INSURANCE. So, something is wrong here.

What would YOU do, if you were in charge? Clearly some of my friends who are very liberal will say, universal health coverage like the UK, which I would support. But I really want to hear what the righty people think, because I just don't get their arguments. We have to do SOMETHING that fixes these issues. What are your far-reaching ideas that would actually work? Even if you don't have a humanitarian bone in your body, covering the uninsured is a goal because they go to the emergency room and raise costs for everyone, so covering as many people as we can is a goal. Unless you want to change it so the emergency rooms just let you die unless you show them your insurance card first and they call the insurance company and make sure they will actually cover you before letting you past the waiting room.

What other REAL solutions are there????????????
