Today's movie was
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I haven't seen a movie for a while, so myself and a friend caught this, I've been meaning to see it for a while.
I'm still trying to figure out what I think of it. Sure, it's a good movie, quite watchable, but for me there was something that just didn't click. I think I spent too much time trying to figure out the time travel thing, or more likely reading things into it.
The idea of a time loop too. The people in the house knew they were looping, so why didn't the villagers? Just where were the boundaries? It had to be big because his grandfather was calling each day, but he wasn't aware of the loop.
And just as a minor thing, Chris O'Dowd with that accent. It just wasn't right. I kept expecting him to slip into his normal accent and go "have you tried turning it off and on again?"
There were quite a few things that weren't explained. Why did the body have a tear? Why did loops need to be 24hrs? Couldn't you make smaller ones and trap the nasties in there? Why did everyone on the ship die conveniently seated in the dining room?
I'll probably need to sleep on it to get most of the questions out of my head, but in the mean time I'll give it 3.5 sunken cruise ships out of 5.
