30 Days of Writting - Day 18: Thousand

As soon as you left for your trip, I counted the days till you returned. Everyday we talked or texted each other, and everyday I missed you more. A year passed and your calls and messages got less and less. I felt worried you forgot about me, but you reassured me that you were just busier now. My friends told me to not to wait for you to come back, but I held on to the thought of being in your arms again.
I think after almost two years, I lost count of how long you were gone for. Ken, Ko-ki and MiA forced me into a blind date with a vocalist from another band. I was sort of worried because I didn't want to cheat on you, but they encouraged me to just try it one time. He wasn't a bad looking kid, he still had his childish looks to him which made him look cute. He reminded me of myself when our band first started, bubbly full of life, he told me he was forced on this date also. I felt bad for him so I offered to pay for the drinks, which he didn't refuse.
After that night we agreed to be just friends and went our separate ways. Today would be two years exactly since you've been away. No calls or messages were sent by you. I think after maybe the 999th day of you being gone I gave up hope of ever seeing you again. I decided to invite the little peppy kid I went drinking with awhile ago over for fun. We ended up watching Star Wars all night and falling asleep together on the couch. On the thousandth day I heard the door to our place open and your bag hit the floor. I slowly woke up and looked towards where you stood.
I almost felt guilty for sleeping next to another man and the look on your face made me feel worse. It showed a look of pain and heartbreak as I quickly got up. "Shin, I...this isn't what it looks like..." You moved away from me as I walked towards you "He's just a friend I met though Ko-ki and them...Shin...d-don't do this to me..." You ignored me and grabbed your bag.
"After all this time, I thought you would be happy to have me back." I just looked at you dumbstrucked as you placed a hand on the doorknob. "You didn't call or text me for over a year! How the hell was I suppose to know if you still cared!" You glared at me slightly before dropping your bag.
"I couldn't call or message you because I wasn't able to, work kept my phone locked away until I was done with the project, I wasn't even allowed to send letters or anything to you because I was under lock down. I wanted to so badly Iv, you don't understand how badly, then I come home after nearly three years to see you with another man?!" You closed your eyes and tried to calm down as I wa unable to say anything. "I guess I wasn't enough for you..."
With that you picked up your bag and left, but not before handing me a box. "Happy birthday by the way..." that was the last I saw of you as I fell to the floor, clutching the box. Subaru woke up to my crying and checked on me to see my crying self on the floor and pulled me into a comforting hug. "What's in the box?" He looked at it curiously as he yawned, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
I slowly opened the box and stopped breathing, inside the box was a thousand small Mameshiba figurines. Everyone of them had a note attached and on the box lid itself read "Happy birthday my precious Ivu." I broke down crying more seeing how much you cared for me. "Oh look they're numbered too," Subaru pointed out and I picked up one labeled number one and read it.
"There isn't enough paper in the world for me to tell you how much I love you, so instead, I'll write one thing everyday till I return to you on a sheet of paper starting with this one. The number one thing I love about you is that you love me for me."
I continued reading the notes as Subaru held me to keep me calm. I never knew there could be a thousand things you loved about me, and I will never know now. I fell asleep clutching note number 666 and dreamed of simpler times. When I woke up I was in your arms instead of Subaru's and smiled. "Subaru explained to me that you two just fell asleep watching tv and were nothing but friends. Can you forgive me?" I smiled and pulled you into a kiss, "Promise me you won't do that again?"
You nodded and kissed me back, "I promise." With that I picked up note number one and had you read all one thousand to me. Hearing you say them and blush on certain ones made me fall in love with you all over, and I hope to never stop loving you.
