I had a really horrible experience yesterday. And it was strange, because I don't know if many people would have been as upset about it as I was.
But.
Yesterday, I came home and saw a bird in my parking lot, with a hurt wing or hurt feet or something, and he couldn't fly. He was scooting around on his chest, and flopping over on his back, and he would try to fly and get two feet off the ground before falling back down again.
And this other bird came over to him while he was struggling on the ground and sort of pushed him and then spun in a few little circles as if to say, "Come on, I can do it, why can't you? What's wrong with you?" It was like he was panicking a little bit.
So I called Animal Control, because the bird was having a really hard time, and it just broke my hear to see it struggling so much.
Well, it took them like half an hour to get there, and when they entered the complex, they turned to the left, away from the bird, and I was just standing there praying they would realize they were going the wrong way. I could see the bird from my balcony; he was sitting there and bobbing his head up and down, like he had just been struggling really hard and was trying to catch his breath.
But by the time they turned around and found the bird, he had stopped moving. And the women got out of their truck, and one nudged it with her boot, and it didn't move, so she got a black plastic bag and picked it up and put it in the back of the truck.
And I just started BAWLING. I was sooooooooooo upset that this bird had tried and tried and finally couldn't keep trying anymore. And the other bird, the one that wasn't hurt, was perched on the roof of the covered parking thing, looking down at the other bird as he died.
I have never seen anything die before, except in the movies, and that is so different. I'm amazed that just a little bird could make me so upset. I mean, it's not like you're watching your grandpa or a family pet. But it made me realize how real death is. It was really...depressing, and strange.
So, just had to share.
In other news, fencing was great last night. I fenced like 8 bouts and won like 3, which is a real improvement from the past few times I've gone lately. So that was exciting. And the people I beat were all really good! So that was awesome! Yay!
I should start some homework now. Ciao!
