Dear Mom,

I miss you already. Actually, I think I missed you from the moment I woke up in another state. Yes, you can gloat.

How's everybody? I'm sorry that I haven't been able to see all the neat stuff I'm sure Haley is up to. School plays and art class and all that stuff. I'm sure she'll be a thousand times better at it than I ever was. Maybe at least she'll have better luck with the pottery wheel. I don't care what you say, that thing never liked me.

I just worry about her. She's still so young and I wish I could be there for her, like a big brother should be. I wish I could help you. You shouldn't have to face this all alone, and I know you said this is what Dad wants and that you're right, but I still think about you two alone without me and it bothers me. I'm just a phone call away, and if you ever need anything...Nothing is more important to me than my family.

Lubbock is hot. It's hot, and it's definitely not what I'm used to. The classes are good, though, and that's what's most important. And I like the sort of off-the-map thing. You know how I hate being the center of attention.

But I still miss you, and my kid sister, every single day. You guys are never far from my thoughts. That's not how we do things in this family. That's not who I am. Not who you raised me to be. Not who Haley would want me to be.

I love you both, and I'm going to make you and Dad proud. I promise.

Love,
Randy
