I just received an email from my mortgage broker and all conditions have been met! This means that on the closing date of January 16, I will receive keys to a brand new condo. No more paying rent, especially rent that is nearly as much as a mortgage. ^_^ This place has never been lived in before and is in a great neighbourhood in NW Calgary. In fact, when I went to see it, the landscaping and doorsteps weren't even finished. It's much closer to work as well, near the airport. I have photos online but I won't bore you with them. Other pluses: my own washer and dryer, and a little balcony for occasional cigar time and sunrises. It will be quite a difference going from "harvest gold" kitchen appliances to beautiful black too.
Anyway, I'm quite excited about it and it will make for a busy January. Sadly, it's not likely I can attend FC, but I need to watch my budget and not jeopardize my dream trip to New Zealand in the spring. Thank-you to Mum and Dad... I consider this a gift from you, since I wouldn't be able to afford the downpayment on my own. Rest in peace, and I still miss you.
