huge pumpkin!
i actually seem to have the makings of a regular entry for once!
i got my pumpkin for this year on saturday, which was clearly too late. all they had left were a few huge pumpkins at the bottom of the boxes.
i was saved from silly running around to other places by the fact that my car battery died on thursday. lou came over saturday afternoon to help me change the battery and found that it had leaked and possibly damaged one of the battery leads. we ran around some to get a new battery. then it was close to time for shadowrun, so we had dinner at gombei on the way back, he dropped me off, and then he went to shadowrun about an hour late. he came back today and took another look at the battery lead and told me it was stripped, so i decided i'm just going to have the car towed to the dealership and have it fixed there.
anyway, back to the subject. i didn't mess around for a change. i just bought one of the huge pumpkins. it's good that i managed to buy it when i did, because i saw a group buying four shopping carts full later on in the afternoon. i'm sure this year's pumpkin is bigger than any pumpkin i've ever had before, even when i was a kid. it's kind of classically shaped but in a pleasingly asymmetric way. it's also got a lot fewer flaws than the ones i usually get. i'm really very pleased.
while i was scraping the inside, i found i'd scraped some skin off my finger as well. that's why i'm now sporting a band-aid. carving kept getting interrupted and put off, but it's done now. i went a lot more traditional than i usually do and more even than i meant to.
i'm planning on bringing the thing to j's party as my contribution if i can get a ride there. if anyone's willing to drive me, either post here or give me a call in the afternoon. getting picked up late is ok and may even be better. i don't know if people trick-or-treat in this apartment complex, but it would be nice to be able to be here during trick-or-treat hours just in case. also, if anybody wants to lay claim to the seeds/innards before i throw them out, also post or call.
