Revel in the serenity of its invigoration . . .

Not much happening. Alex and I have been working on music writing with Finale Notepad, we've got one finished piece which is amusingly quirky, and another half-done which is best described by those who have listened to it as "spastic." Basically, I took a bunch of generic thrash/shred licks and ran them together and added my own warped sense of a second guitar part over them. It sounds spastic. We decided Alex should start writing drum parts BEFORE my guitar parts so he doesn't have to deal with my non-percussional writing style. Typical.

Gotten into the habit of composing for a few hours while hanging out in the #arcona channel (strange for someone from Tarentum, but whatever), getting a call and talking till waking up time and going to sleep. School will kill that, but whatever.

Wolf's back from CA, all I've heard from her is a "woof" passed on by Alex over the phone, and I'm currently talking to Chaos (elder Chaos, aka Katy) on AIM, and read her LJ. She's spent the past day trying to call Wolf and is getting the same bullshit that I usually do. Read about that at www.livejournal.com/users/chaoswolf.

Church today. Got called by Alex and almost immediately thereafter by Sarah, who left a message: "I'm at a Metallica concert and you're not!" *chuckles* We did an odd thing (typically Grace-like) based on the story in which four friends drag a paralized guy in through a roof to see Jesus. I got to be paralized. I think Jacki may have noticed my ability to keep still, she keeps making me do motionless things :P.

John and I went to the mall together briefly yesterday, figuring that the day was ours since our plans to go to Ozzfest together had died. I got summoned home to go to dinner with John(other John) and Bess, celebrating John's recent promotion. We had a lovely dinner and went to the nearby Barnes and Noble for desert and bookness. So, it's time for another installment of "Ma'arkhan's New Junk."

New Books: Grey Knights (Ben COunter), Wolfblade (William King)
New Magazines: Bass Guitar (October '04), Metal Hammer (October '04), something else guitarish (October '04).
New CDs: cd with guitarish magazine, Metal Hammer's Golden Gods of Metal '04.

Review: Golden Gods
It has stuff from Iron Maiden, Slayer, Black Label Society, Dimmu Borgir, and about a zillion others. 17 tracks of today's hottest metal. My general trend: I liked the stuff from the older metal bands and artists: Iron Maiden, Slayer, Black Label Society (Zakk Wylde), Brides of Destruction (Nikki Sixx), and Machine Head. I also like the Black Metal: Dimmu Borgir (the only track I'd had before), Akercocke, and, um, whatever the other band was.

Asahoshi: We've got a page on Alex's site to fool with if we want to. Just tell me if you want anything up there.
