I haven't heard his music in years. There's a radio station called BOB FM and I haven't heard any Harry Chapin on that station yet. They claim to play anything. I'll have to request a song of his and then that will be a true claim.

I was at Blossem Music Center back in the late 70's, early 80's for what I think was his last NE Ohio show before he died in the traffic accident. It was great. We were part of the Cuyahoga Falls Shit Picking Choir for 30,000 Pounds of Bananas. :)

It's funny, his songs are so melancholy, or down right sad, but his on stage personality was so upbeat and vibrant. The live recordings I have, he's always laughing with the audience, and having such a great time. Though even songs like Taxi and W.O.L.D. while being about loss, and sadness, end with the protagonist being satisfied, or at least having come to terms with his lot in life. What a talent he had for song writing and story telling.

He was one of my mom's favorites. I went to Blossom as well at about that time. You're right. It was a great concert and loved him live. Probably one of the better concerts I've been to.

they still make phones that only make calls?

The US is so backward in technology... seriously. There isn't anything my computer can do that my phone can't. And this is good, because it means I'm not tied to a desk. I can go somewhere and if some emergency comes up I don't have to go somewhere else, I can just handle it.

Sure, some folks say that tethers you to the job, but no, it doesn't. Because the people without the phones who are in Operations, working with the net and computers and so on, they have to drive back to work, or sit at home in front of their computer, doing work stuff.

But mostly the problem in the US is the Telco executives have no concept of what the possibilities are. I've talked about SMS messages... I mean, my phone has 2000+ sms messages from the past 2 years. These are to people all over Europe. ICQ/AIM are basically SMS messages not using a phone. And you can use it for 'emergency' stuff as well, tho it is a ...

anyway hi ex-phone company employee, hi.

Well, my old phone could text, i just never did, never wanted too either. The new one is a Motorola Razr type. Don't think it's actually a razr, but it's the same basic shape. Takes nice pics, and does the texting thing, although I don't have unlimited texts. Only person i txt is Jason anyway ( ... )
