Soukyuu no Fafner/Fafner in the Azure

I cried a ridiculous amount of times while marathoning Fafner (Soukyuu no Fafner/Fafner in the Azure) over the past few days. Other than that, I have a few things to say: 1) I personally think that series is a masterpiece, especially given its fairly short length (26 episodes that draw you in and go by so quickly that it seems if you blink once, ( Read more... )

HUZZAH! I might try to find it online before then, but if I haven't watched it by the time I come in (I hope to be in Tulsa/BA from Christmas until probably New Year's Day), we can watch it together for sure. ♥

I'd lend you some UC, but I only own the middle episodes of Zeta and all of Double Zeta. Original Gundam shouldn't be hard to find online, though, if you're interested. :3

Haha, Monster is extremely slow, but it's so worth it. I don't know that you'd really like anything else I have to recommend, honestly, but I loved Baccano!, and Soul Eater is kind of fun, if you haven't already tried that one. I like it more than I thought I would, at any rate. :O

I really did try with both D.G-M and PH, but I got busy at some point and stopped reading and never really missed them enough to start again. I may give PH another shot, but I don't think D.G-M is going to grow on me. XD; Oh well~ And yeah, I can kind of sense that about Kuroshitsuji, but I figure I'll at least give it a shot, especially if I'm going to be cosplaying from it. :/

If it's much like Evangelion, I will probably love Fafner. :Db And I will certainly be over at your place over the break! ♥

I know there was a sub floating around at one point; that's how I originally watched the end of the series because it took Geneon forever to release the last two DVDs. It's pretty good. I like both the English and Japanese audio sets for the show. :) ♥

My problem with watching stuff online when I'm at home is that we have a really slow Internet connection, and my laptop's processor is so slow that any video lags--and this is a giant annoyance of mine. XD; I'll have to search around online for original Gundam when I get back to school. I'm only taking thirteen hours in the spring, so I should have time to watch some. :3

I've been interested in Baccano! for a while, but I haven't found the chance to watch it. I'll have to see if Netflix has it. That's the only place that doesn't lag on our Internet connection. XD ♥ As for Soul Eater, I tried watching it back when it was just starting to become popular over here, and I thought it was okay. I would give it another try if I could remember which episode I made it to. :Db One day I will give Monster another serious try. I want to know what makes you like it so much. I'm really curious. :)

D.Gray-man is hit-or-miss for a lot of people; it's the same with Pandora Hearts. I enjoy them, and they are some of my favorite series--but I have several other favorites that will always top them.

Like I said, I think Fafner is similar to Evangelion to a faint degree. It occasionally has the slice of life feel to it when they're at school, but stuff always goes down at a peaceful moment. The main character can be pretty complacent at times, but he's... not like Shinji. I don't know. The combination of characters in Fafner seem more real to me than the groups that are usually forced to work together in mecha series. [/rambling] At any rate, I am looking forward to seeing you! :D ♥♥♥

I will try to find both, but I looove good anime dubs. Baccano! has a pretty decent one, if you do get to watch it. (Netflix does have Baccano!, but only the DVDs. The Funimation website should have it streaming, but it will probably lag just as hard. xx;)

Soul Eater is a pretty generic anime, nothing special, but I did fall in love with some of the characters pretty quickly. And maybe I had such low expectations going into it that I couldn't help but like it. XD;

D.Gray-Man and Pandora Hearts seem similar in a lot of ways. I just didn't get very far into Pandora Hearts and would like to give it another chance. Are there any other series you would recommend as highly as Fafner?

Same here! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥!!

If a dub is good, I will not hesitate to watch an anime series in English; if it is absolutely horrid, I will watch stuff with subtitles. :| I like watching dubs, though, because I can multitask more easily. I can do that with subtitles, too, but it's a little more difficult, as I am not well-versed in the Japanese language still. XD;;

I had heard nothing but rave reviews about Soul Eater, but like you said, it's a pretty generic anime--at least from what I've seen. That's not to say I'm not willing to give it a second chance. I just haven't had much time. :3

The Pandora Hearts manga is way better than the anime series, if you decide to give it another try. Like Soul Eater, though, it's also pretty generic--a classic Alice in Wonderland spin-off. I tend to like those types of stories, though. :)

The only other series I would recommend, you've already seen: Gundam Wing, Escaflowne, Chrono Crusade--and maybe Tales of the Abyss. The anime was a fairly good rendition of the game; there were a few changes, but it remained pretty true to the storyline. Sakura Wars is also one of my favorites, but that's mainly because it's super cheesy and contains female mecha pilots. >_> ♥

Oh! For the record, I was reading the back of my Fafner novel, and it seems Fafner was actually created by the producers of Evangelion. Go figure. That's probably why certain parts of Fafner are reminiscent of Evangelion. XD;; *fails*

Ah, Sakura Wars! That's another one I've been wanting to watch! Let's have an anime sampler night or something and watch a couple of episodes of different shows we want to share or are mutually curious about. *___*

Also, would it be okay if Joey and I spent the night of Christmas Eve? I know your family probably has plans to be together, and I don't want to invite myself over, but we'll be up to see his parents that evening and could come straight there afterward. Just let me know if that's possible, and if not, we'll see you on Christmas Day! :D

An anime sampler night sounds like a great plan! Would you like to do that Christmas Eve? The parents said you two are more than welcome to spend the night then. :)

Also, Lisa let me borrow Om Shanti Om. If you're interested in seeing it, I have it here. It's amusing and probably one of the best Bollywood movies I've watched thus far. :)
