Born 12th December 1957 - Died 2nd November 2015

We are all gathered here today to remember and celebrate the life of Mum.

This is a task I thought I would have a few more years to prepare for - but as the song says only the good die young.

As a single mother of four she did it tough. Often going without so her children didn’t have to - but she never complained she just knuckled down and did her best; which is all anyone can ask and she applied that same gusto to every aspect of her life.

Mum had an inherent love of music - as it allowed her to appreciate what little of her hearing she had left and would always bug me to turn the stereo on when cruising down the highway.

Through my love for technology I introduced Mum to the Internet. This opened a whole new world for her as she was able to reach out and find other people to talk to which eventually led to her finding love with Chris again later on in life.

I had the privilege of working with my mother at the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation and I saw the great joy that she got from it. She got great satisfaction in knowing that she was helping to improve the lives of sick and injured children in WA in her own small way. It saddened her greatly that she was unable to continue due to poor health.

Mum loved to travel I still remember the excitement in her eyes as I took her to the airport for her first flight she was like a kid in a candy store. Most of us take our first flight as children or in our 20’s, Mum took hers in her late 40s.

Some of my fondest memories are sitting out the back listening to music and playing cards.

Mum, thank you for everything you've done & given us you have left a lasting impression on each and everyone one of us.

Thinking of you always.
