So am officially on vacation now. Spent a good part of the day out running lots of errands and grabbing last minute things for the trip to VVC tomorrow (Gleee!) including getting American money (and boy is that less painful now than it was a few years ago.) and finding something to wear to Club Vivid. Yes, this is leaving things to the last moment. Welcome to my life.
I had wanted to get maybe a new pair of sandals but after running the other errands, I just didn't have the energy. I don't actually like clothes or shoe shopping so I only do it when I absolutely have to, which explains the last minute thing.
But got what I needed and just need to pack now and then tomorrow I'm on a plane to Vividcon. Yay!
I'm looking forward to the con even more now because really, I just want to submerge myself in the best part of fandom and just ignore the whole boldthrough lj mess for a few days.
The clarification that lj did last night has clarified one thing for me -- that what once was almost unthinkable to me now seems only a matter of time. Namely, me leaving LJ. Not today, not tomorrow, but yeah. Partially because I can't see fandom staying here if things continue going the way they are and partially because I've reached the point where I'm fed up with LJ/6A's lack of savvy in communication and customer service.
I'm going to continue crossposting to my gj, ij, and jf journals and probably some time in the future, where I see how things go/where people end up, I'll migrate to one of them and just crosspost to lj instead. (Not that I've been posting much this year, but I keep trying to get back in the habit so...)
I"m luckier than a lot of people with permanent accounts who feel this way. I got mine far enough back that it's actually paid for itself and more. But it's still sad that I can actually see a time where I won't be using it anymore.
But I'm not going to dwell on that for the next few days. I'm taking a vacation from this as well as work. I'm going to submerge myself in watching vids, talking about vids and being fannish with a bunch of like minded people.
