I actually gave up on the Buffy comic as I hated his Ethan dialogue so much. The guy shouldn't try to write any Brits other than the BBC-received accented without a language advisor. And looking at soundingsea's comment above, I gave up just in time.
I'm becoming a complete Whovian currently, which I haven't been since I was a kid. (Working at a comic/SF merchandise shop during the old school years was more than enough to put me off the fandom. Wild generalisations, I know, but the Trekkers were all lovely people, and Whovians were anal, aggressive autists to a one. Oh, and all male too. There's still a lot of them about on Outpost Gallifrey. It's weirdly funny watching them try to interact with the more sane, chatty type of fangirls and boys. ;) )
Martha has failed to replace Rose for me. I don't dislike her, but Rose was allowed to be more 'real' by the writers (plus BP is a great actor, which was such a surprise to me initially). I've now seen the whole of the CE season, and I'd stopped disliking him by epi3. That awful first episode has a lot to answer for. Without Christmas lethargy 'forcing' me to watch the Runnaway Bride, I would never have discovered how much I'm enjoy the RTD Who.
Sorry I've not been on AIM. What with your work, various connection issues and how busy you are writing, we weren't having many successful chats anyway. :)
I love the show a lot and I squee when I watch it, but it just hasn't reached real fannish obsession for me yet. I expect though it's a matter of time. Ensemble shows seem to take a little longer to get me to that point. (The average is a season and a half of dedicated viewing to hit that point.) I do want to vid it though, when I get the dvds and find the right song.

You did. I was wondering if you were reading it, and went to check if you were online when I got all caught up because I knew if anyone would share my Ethan outrage it would be you. ;)

The Whovian group I was involved with in university was a good mix of your stereotypical fanboys and others who weren't quite so much fodder for SNL. The groups was also about 50% female which probably helped. I have very fond memories of it -- not only for the interaction with other Whovians but also because it was this club that introduced me to the Avengers (Diana Rigg!), Red Dwarf and Sapphire and Steel among others.

Martha hasn't really made me go wow, favourite companion! Not like how Rose did with Nine or Ace did with Seven. (Or Leelah with Four for that matter). But she does seem a better fit with Ten. Though I think part of the problem with Rose and Ten was that Rose was such a *perfect* fit with Nine that anything was going to feel less in comparison.
Nine remains my favourite Doctor I think, with Seven second. Ten is probably up there in third place. I like a Doctor with a little bit of a darker edge, which Ten has sometimes but not as much as Nine and Seven so....

I'm off tomorrow and Friday -- tho I have errands to run Thursday afternoon. But I should be around most of the days. I'm going too to try and go with a wireless router and see if that will improve my connectivity problems so we'll see. {{{hugs}}}
