I May Be Watching Too Much Ally McBeal
You know how some authors have dreams that give them fully fleshed-out plots for books? That's basically what I did last night, except that I came up with a fully fleshed-out idea for a blog, including the name and a marketing plan.
See, I've been watching old episodes of Ally McBeal while I work. And in the show, there are a lot of phrases and shortcuts that are used in one episode, and then pop up again throughout the series, often without context.
So my blog idea was that each post would explain the background of a commonly-used phrase in Ally McBeal. The blog would be called "When Ally Says" and each post would have the title, "When Ally Says (whatever) She Means (whatever). This would be great search engine optimization for what my sleeping mind thought people would be searching for.
The posts would contain not only the translation, but also the original episode where the phrase first appeared, background about why it came about, how it's used throughout the series, and by whom.
And the blog would monetize, because I'd include affiliate links to the DVDs and other Ally McBeal merchandise.

Apparently, in my sleep, I can come up with a well-reasoned strategy for a money-making blog, except that my unconscious mind is absolutely terrible at picking topics.
