Got some bad news for everyone. My boyfriend Josh's grandfather passed away yesterday (Mon., 16 January). Here's a link to the obit: Noel Long, 76. I know hardly any of y'all know Josh, but he's good people and I care for him quite a bit, so I'm sure any prayers, thoughts, or well-wishes would be greatly appreciated.

If your relationships are important to you, it would be wise to avoid going into any kind of military service. I have a buddy who is in the army reserve and he says they can take you at any time for any reason to serve in some dangerous place across the world. You'll also have a difficult time with self-expression, as I'm pretty sure they make you take your piercings out and frown on people dyeing their hair. And then there's the uniforms; think of not being able to wear all your pretty, unique clothes when you want.
In any case, I have two friends -- one male and one female -- who are in the army reserve and just got done serving a year away from home. If you'd like, I can interview them for you, or even arrange for all of us to get together so you can ask them any questions you might have.
Sorry for my long silence; as is usual in my life, I have been trying my best to keep everything together, so I haven't been getting out a lot or even making many phone calls. I have a feeling I've made some enemies due to this. ::shrugs:: No hard feelings, man; life just gets stressful sometimes.

None taken... I know all too well how true that is. As far as the military stuff, I've talked to a few people already (mainly Daniel Holton [Navy] and the guy that I'm dating now, Josh [Marine]... yeah, Victor and I broke it off shortly after Christmas) and the only thing that I really foresee myself having a problem with is lopping off my hair. O.o Sorry, but I *don't* look good with chin-length hair! O_O If you'd like to get together and have me talk to your friends though, that'd still be cool. I'm working at Pizza Hut now, generally in the evenings during the week and 11a-5p or so on weekends, if that's of any help to ya.
The self-expression stuff I'm not so worried about; yeah, I just coloured my hair again and really like it this time, but it's not like I couldn't do it again when I got out of boot. Ditto with the piercing; that can always be redone when my service is over, so I'm not too worried about it. Heck, it's been there since October of '02.... I think I got my $45 out of it. ^^;
Anyway, let me know if you want to get together, I guess. My cell number is still the same, but in case you don't have it anymore, it's 752-1363. If I don't answer right away, I'll try to call you back as soon as I can. If you want, I can see if Josh would like to come along and add a third military perspective (plus, I think you might actually like this one, hehe.) So yeah! Hope to hear from you soon. ^_^
